Taking photos

General Tips

Always shoot in landscape and stabilise the camera by anchoring your elbow into your hip. If you are shooting a portrait, use the ‘portrait’ mode available on iPhones. Never use flash.

Equipment Tips

iPhone: Snap photos with the volume button. Tap the screen to focus. Hold a spot on your screen to lock focus.

DSLR: If you’re an inexperienced photographer please shoot on the auto settings provided.

Rules of Thirds

Turn on grid assistance on your iPhone: Settings > Camera > Grid [turn on] Place the subject on the rule of thirds shown above. For portraits, the subject’s eyes are the most important aspect — make sure the eyes fall on one or more of the grid lines.
